Not every DJ has what it takes to make it to the level to be able to perform with some the hottest rappers in the game to say. However, this DJ not only managed to be able to become one of the hottest celebrity DJs in the game, but he remains to stay humble about every step of his journey. If you haven’t heard of him then you must not listen to music in Atlanta. DJ Ray G is up next in a major way!
Coming from Williamsport, Michigan, but fed in Atlanta, Ga DJ Ray G knew that music was instilled in him since birth. At the age of 10, he asked his mother for some turn tables because DJ Ray G had dreams of becoming a rapper and he thought learning how to DJ will bring him one step closer to becoming a sensational rapper. Through the guidance of his neighborhood mentor, he was able to learn how to scratch tables. At 12 years old, DJ Ray G found himself learning to adapt to his new home in Gwinnett. The moment he landed in the A he began to realize his love for Down South Hip Hop- i.e. Outkast, Master P, etc.
When he finally settled into his permanent home in Lawrenceville, it was then that his DJ career finally begun. From what started as being a DJ at local clubs, he was able to build a brand for himself in Atlanta by becoming a promoter and networking with fellow music lovers. It was during this time that he was able to meet the Migos and the rest is history and its been up ever since. Some of his favorite events to DJ at is in an open format where he is able to play whatever song he feels like playing and his close friend Betty Levi’s BCL Entertainment events.
He is currently working on a record label called Sweet Revenge Music Group and he was been able to sign multiple artists, producers, and writers. Currently they are working on a free showcase competition out of Gwinnett called “Next On The Nawf” that is set to launch on June 19th. He wants to use his platform to give others an opportunity to win a slot on a free album that will be released on streaming platforms and the top 20 songs will be selected. He also is currently producing music with a couple of hot new artists in the city.
We had to ask DJ Ray G what was his top 3 favorite songs out right now and he gave some fire responses. The three songs selected was Wockesha by Moneybagg Yo, Top by Fredo Bang, and Nunnadet Shit by Asian Doll. When asked who would he want to work with in the future as a DJ and he stated that artistically, he would love to work with Pharrell.
When reflecting on some of his favorite moments when touring with the Migos, he expressed how it felt more like a brotherhood than touring. He elaborated by stating that it was never a bad day because you are doing it with your bros and from there it’s lit! He went on to tell us about his experience when he was touring with Cardi B and he stated how the energy was amazing and how it is never a dull day if you are with Cardi B.
